I first worked with the Topsy Turvy two years ago and the first thing that I noticed was how difficult it was to get the root system inside without damaging any roots, the second was keeping the root system inside by pouring dirt into the hanging planter while you're holding the plant and breathing in dirt, but the real problems with the Topsy Turvy started after watering. The soil washed away little by little, so it was replaced little by little, then the plants started to die, then bugs nested in the soil and the plants died quicker, and last and, absolutely, the worst was when the Topsy Turvy began to disintegrate in the sun.
Now, every time that I walk to the back yard, I see dirt, rusty wires, plastic rings, and green tarp where I laid the dead tomato plants down. Topsy Turvy, absolutely, failed! If anyone out there has succeeded with the Topsy Turvy then just tell me how you did it because It was too much maintenance for me.
